My name is Kate Chick and after 28 years in the event industry, I can see how the events landscape has changed and is continuing to adapt in these turbulent times.
I firmly believe that the relationship between the client and their suppliers is crucial to create the perfect event, and my ability to successfully manage that relationship is what sets me apart from many. I have the empathy and people skills to work with everyone to ensure that all are happy and enjoy the event process and work to the very best of their ability, culminating in a great experience for the guests.
A little about me… after graduating from Portsmouth University with a ‘HotCat’ degree (BA Hons in Hotel and Catering Management!), I moved straight to London and worked for a year in the admin team at a busy international sales office for Hilton & Conrad Hotels. Next came 9 years at the corporate hospitality broking firm Langston Scott where I developed a vast knowledge of the UK's venues and suppliers and gained a great understanding of the diversity of the events world. Whilst there I helped project manage the first corporate event at the Millennium Dome and ran an event there for 14,000 guests! Then it was onto Merrill Lynch for some client side experience, a lot of travel managing events around Europe and the Middle East, in a team which ran over 300 events a year and the start of my Chelsea Flower Show journey, an event which I have worked on for over 12 years.
On 8th January 2008, I decided to go it alone as a freelancer and incorporated Freerange Events UK Ltd. It has been a magnificent time with such a wonderful variety of jobs, large and small, from the London Olympics and corporate awards dinners to medical conferences all over Europe.
So, 13 years later and I have a little enforced spare time. I’ve decided to have a re-brand and actually get around to launching my own website!
